The State police commissioner, Mr Olatunji Disu, made this disclosure during a news conference in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Rivers State Police Command reports that its officers have rescued a kidnap victim.
The police rescued the victim, a teenager, who was kidnapped in Enugu and transported to Port Harcourt in a 鈥楪hana-Must-Go鈥� bag.
The State police commissioner, Mr Olatunji Disu, made this disclosure during a news conference in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Disu said the teenager was repeatedly raped by her kidnappers after being taken to Port Harcourt, adding that the crime was uncovered when officers in Abuloma Police Station received credible intelligence regarding the suspicious movement of one of the suspects.
鈥淯pon receiving the information, operatives were swiftly dispatched to the area, and they arrested one male suspect.
鈥淥fficers rescued the teenage girl (name withheld) who had been held against her will by the suspect.
鈥淧reliminary investigations revealed that the suspect lured the teenager from her residence in Garki, Enugu, placed her in a 鈥楪hana-Must-Go鈥� bag and transported her from Enugu to Port Harcourt,鈥� Disu said.
The police commissioner further said that, upon arriving in Port Harcourt, the victim was taken to the residence of an alleged internet fraudster, stressing that the alleged fraudster and another suspect repeatedly had carnal knowledge of the teenager.
鈥淭he victim has undergone medical examination and treatment, while the suspects are in our custody,鈥� he said.
